All applicants must meet Banks County Sheriff’s Office’s standards for hiring eligibility.  Hiring requirements include successfully passing all of the following steps:

  • Oral Interview with division commander
  • Entry level law enforcement examination (computer-based)
    • Score of 70% or higher for detention center positions
      and 76% or higher for patrol positions
    • Five (5) points will be added for being a Banks County citizen
    • Five (5) points will be added for being a Georgia POST certified
      Jailer in good standing
    • Ten (10) points will be added for being a Georgia POST certified
      ​Peace Officer in good standing
  • ​Peace Officer’s Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) – Modified 
    • Patrol & detention officer only

  • Background Investigation
  • Voice Stress Analysis​
  • Psychological Examination
  • Medical Examination
    • To include physical ability test & drug testing
  • Final selection by the Sheriff & official offer of employment

Hiring preference will be given to Banks County residents
