H.E.R.O. Deputy

Sheriff Speed established the specialized Heightened Enforcement Response Officer (H.E.R.O.) unit to protect the Banks County school system. As a H.E.R.O. Deputy, you will remain prepared for instantaneous threat response and continuously monitor school security from an onsite location.

H.E.R.O. Deputies are tasked with the responsibilities of both a school resource officer, and a tactical officer. The H.E.R.O. Unit is held to SWAT standards of training, physical fitness, and firearms proficiency. An added benefit of being a H.E.R.O. Deputy is a work schedule aligned to the calendar of Banks County schools.
Annual Salary: Starting at $56,000*
*Annual pay includes thirteen paid holidays guaranteed to the employee.
Candidates must…
• Possess a High School diploma or GED; supplemented by the completion of basic police officer training program.
• Possess and maintain valid Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer certification.
• Possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
